Boulder County announces trail closure for nesting birds

Boulder County Parks and Open Space staff have announced the temporary closure of a section of the Cradleboard Trail at Carolyn Holmberg Preserve at Rock Creek Farm — which is also part of the Rock Creek Trail — in order to protect sensitive ground nesting birds.

A detour is in place, but the rough terrain may not be suitable for road bikes.

The trail will reopen after the young fledge, which could be as late as Oct. 31, according to a news release. If the birds leave the nest early, the trail will reopen at that time.

Updates will be posted to the Carolyn Holmberg Preserve at Rock Creek Farm webpage. For more information please Senior Wildlife Biologist Susan Spaulding at .
