Boulder County under air quality advisory due to fine particulates

Boulder County and other parts of Colorado will be under an air quality advisory Wednesday.

An action day both visibility and fine particulates in the air that was issued Tuesday morning was extended through 4 p.m. Wednesday.

“People with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children in the affected areas should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion,” according to a release from the Air Pollution Control Division of the Colorado Department Public Health and Environment. “Cold and stagnant weather conditions have allowed fine particulate matter concentrations to climb into the unhealthy for sensitive groups category throughout large parts of the northern Front Range region. Elevated pollutant levels will likely continue through at least Wednesday morning.”

Indoor burning restrictions and requests to limit driving also are in effect.
