Boulder County under air quality advisory through Thursday afternoon

An action day for particulates and visibility will be in effect for the seven-county Boulder-Denver metro area from 4 p.m. today through at least 4 p.m. Thursday.

Fine particulate concentrations have climbed into the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category throughout large parts of the northern Front Range region, with some areas reaching the higher Unhealthy category, according to a state news release.

As a result, indoor burning restrictions and requests to limit driving will be in effect until the advisory is lifted. Poor visibility and an exceedance of the state visibility standard are expected on Thursday, according to the release.

People with heart or lung disease, older adults and children should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion.
