COGCC will hold April hearing on Crestone Peak drilling plan

The Colorado Oil and Gas Commission will hold a public hearing on a proposed comprehensive drilling plan from Crestone Peak Resources from April 29 to May 1, according to a Boulder County news release. The commission also will consider the plan‘s associated drilling and spacing units at that time.

The hearing, which initially had been scheduled for October, will consider the extraction company‘s plans to drain 10-square miles north of Erie along Colo. 52. Members of the public will have time to speak, though it‘s not clear when in the three-day time frame the commission will consider Crestone‘s proposal. The hearing will be in Boulder City Council chambers, 1777 Broadway.

The county also has filed suit to stop this project from moving forward. In February, a judge , but allowed four claims regarding whether possible mineral rights leases the company is using to establish its right to drill have expired. A status review hearing in that lawsuit is set March 28.

Details about how to sign up for public comment have yet to be released.
