Erie Christmas tree recycling program begins

Erie‘s annual Christmas tree recycling program begins today.

Residents have until Jan. 13 to drop trees off in a marked drop-off area at the Erie Recycling Center at 1000 Briggs St.

The town isn‘t accepting trees that are bagged, and it also won‘t take tree stumps or loose leaves. Trees shouldn‘t be decorated when they‘re dropped off.

Starting Jan. 15, as long as weather permits it, the Parks Division will mulch the trees. The mulch will be available for people to take for free until March 4.
