GOCO awards $108,638 in grants to Boulder County projects

The Great Outdoors Colorado, or GOCO, board has awarded two planning grants totaling $108,638 to projects in Boulder County.

Lafayette, in partnership with Nature Kids/Jóvenes de la Naturaleza, received a $72,488 grant to study the effect of nature-based learning and activities on the outcomes of children in primary and secondary schools.

Separately, Boulder County received a $36,150 grant to plan renovations at Cal-Wood Education Center in Jamestown. Cal-Wood is used for outdoor education by Boulder Valley students.

To date, GOCO has invested more than $23.5 million in projects in Boulder County. GOCO funding has supported Nature Kids with more than $2.7 million in grants, as well as supporting Louisville Elementary‘s playground, Lyons‘ flood recovery, Niwot Children‘s Park and Boulder‘s Valmont Bike Park.
