Juvenile officer in Florida faces sex assault charges

LARGO, Fla. (AP) – Authorities in Florida say a juvenile guard who was arrested last week was trading food and drink with underage inmates in exchange for sexual favors.

Pinellas County Juvenile Detention officer is facing two counts of sexual battery, one count of simple battery and one count of introduction of contraband in a juvenile detention facility.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that was arrested and fired from his job last week.

Pinellas Sheriff Bob Gualtieri says was “grooming” his victims and sexually assaulted three 17-year-old boys in January. Five other juveniles have reported that approached them as well.

Online court records listed no attorney for . Jail records showed he was still being held with a bond of more than $305,000.
