Lafayette taking applications for Green Business Recognition Program

Lafayette‘s Energy Sustainability and Waste Reduction advisory committees are accepting applications for the city‘s ninth annual Green Business Recognition Program, an initiative through which local businesses can be rewarded for their sustainability measures.

The program, which is supported by Boulder County‘s Partners for a Clean Environment, “connects business and commercial property owners with tools and resources to save money and support the city‘s goals for reduction of waste and greenhouse emissions,” a Monday news release states.

Measures taken into account include how businesses improve energy efficiency, reduce landfill waste, conserve water and support alternative transportation methods.

Businesses who are awarded receive official recognition from Lafayette City Council and are given certificates and decals to display at their locations. Awardees and their employees also are eligible for discounted RTD products, including EcoPass and pre-paid MyRide cards.

Twenty-one businesses received designations last year.

Applications can be submitted at . The deadline to apply is Friday.
