One injured in recreational motor home fire near Lyons

A 56-year-old man was injured in a fire while working on his recreational motor home Saturday night in the 100 block of County Road 69 near Lyons, according to the Boulder County Sheriff‘s Office.
Boulder County fire crews responded to the fire at about 8 p.m., finding a fully engulfed motor home. The occupant had escaped, but firefighters found him about 10 feet away and a deputy and firefighter moved him to safety, according to the sheriff‘s office.
He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of smoke and fire related injuries.

The fire destroyed the motor home and damaged three cars and a house nearby, according to the sheriff‘s office.
The initial investigation suggests that the fire was accidental and had been sparked by work the injured man was doing on a heater inside the motor home, according to the sheriff‘s office.
The official cause will be determined by the Lyons Fire Protection District and Boulder County‘s Multi-Agency Fire Investigation Team.
