Pete Buttigieg in talks to appear in Fox News town hall, following Bernie Sanders‘ lead

By – The Washington Times – Tuesday, April 16, 2019

A spokesperson for Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg said Tuesday they are in discussions with Fox News to hold a town hall, following in Vermont Sen. Bernard Sanders’ footsteps.

The spokesperson told The Hill that providing a platform for the South Bend, Indiana, mayor to address Fox News’ viewership “is something we intend to do.”

Despite his relatively unknown beginnings, Mr. Buttigieg is currently third in Iowa and New Hampshire and is one of almost 20 Democratic candidates vying to challenge President Trump in the 2020 election.

Mr. Buttigieg follows in the steps of Mr. Sanders, who Monday became the first Democratic presidential candidate in this 2020 campaign to hold a town hall on Fox News’ network, answering questions on immigration, Medicare for all and the controversies Rep. Ilhan Omar, Minnesota Democrat.

Mr. Sanders town hall comes a month after Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez Fox News from hosting any of the party’s primary debates, citing reporting of Fox News and Mr. Trump’s “inappropriate relationship” preventing them from providing a “fair and neutral debate for our candidates.”
