Royal SNUB: Kate Middleton revealed Charlotte and George BROKE Royal Christmas protocol

The Duchess, her husband Prince William and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis spent Christmas at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. On Wednesday morning, the Duchess stunned in festive red as she headed to church and confessed to a well-wisher that her children didn‘t stick to the family‘s traditions when it came to their Christmas presents. According to former Royal chef Darren McGrady, the Royals are of German descent so they weave “in German traditions to their celebrations”.

Mr McGrady disclosed: “After afternoon tea, they open gifts on Christmas Eve, as is the German tradition.”

But Kate told a Royal fan, who was hoping to see Prince George and Princess Charlotte outside the church, that her children got up “very early” that day to open their presents, reportedly breaking protocol.

George, Charlotte and Louis did not attend the Christmas morning service as they are still too young.

Prince Harry‘s first photographed appearance at the Christmas day service was when he was seven and William was five.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte‘s most recent appearance was last Sunday when Kate left shoppers open-mouthed when she appeared in The Range in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, to buy trolley loads of Christmas presents with her two eldest children.

She was spotted by teacher Sarah Daniels, who even noticed what adorable nickname the Duchess called her children.

While many parents may dote on their youngsters with pet names such as ‘princess’, Kate opts for a different name for her real-life royals.

At one point Charlotte sat on the floor before her mother told her: “Get up, poppet”, according to Mrs Daniels.

George then asked if they could buy some dinosaur slime, and Kate again called her son “poppet”.

Mrs Daniels, 43, said: “As I was looking at the shelves I noticed a tall dark-haired lady further down the aisle and thought to myself ‘I recognise that face’.

“Then I heard George say ‘Charlotte, pick that up’ and the penny suddenly dropped as to who they were. It seemed like a lovely family outing for them the day before Christmas Eve.”

She added: “We are used to all the pomp and ceremony that goes with the Royal Family but it was great to see Kate shopping with her children in the kind of discount store the rest of us use.”
